Our Amazing Partnership With One Tree Planted

When we plant trees, we help restore forest cover and boost the health of our forests. It’s one way to give back to our planet and practice environmentally friendly habits.

We recently partnered with One Tree Planted, a great non-profit organization dedicated to global reforestation. If you’re looking for ways to make greener choices, read on to learn more about the organization, our partnership, and how it can benefit you and the environment.

What’s Is One Tree Planted?

One Tree Planted is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to improving our world by planting trees. For every dollar donated, a tree is planted. Since 2014, the company has more than doubled the number of trees planted each year.

The organization also works hard to raise awareness about sustainability and the importance of trees. The more people know about sustainable practices and ways they can help our earth, the better.

The Benefits of planting trees

For us here at Wooden Simple Things, our new partnership means that for every product we sell – from pet supplies to cooking utensils – we plant a tree.

You may be wondering why planting trees is such a big deal. Trees have a significant impact on our air and our wildlife. They also promote biodiversity.

Here are some of the biggest benefits of trees and reforestation.

More clean air

A single large tree can produce a day’s worth of oxygen for up to four people. Through photosynthesis, leaves absorb water and carbon dioxide to create compounds the tree needs to survive. However, this process also produces oxygen as a byproduct.

It’s estimated that cities account for 75% of global CO2 emissions. So cities and areas with high carbon dioxide emissions benefit greatly from trees in their environment.

Reduces flood risk

Trees need water to thrive, and if they capture rainwater, it can reduce the risk of landslides and flooding.

A tree’s root system also acts like a filter, slowing water absorption in the soil. When the soil isn’t oversaturated, there’s less flooding.

Improves biodiversity

A single tree is home to hundreds of different species, from mosses to insects to mammals. All kinds of creatures depend on trees to make their homes. Birds, frogs, squirrels, bats and many more depend on forests to provide them with shelter.

Cutting down trees means taking away homes from these animals and plants. This puts many species at risk.

However, when you plant a tree, you’re promoting biodiversity and supporting our wildlife.

A benefit to our communities

Forests also benefit people by providing places for them to gather. From hiking to bird watching, nature has a lot to offer

Spending time near trees is also good for our health. Being near trees lifts our mood and lowers blood pressure

For every product sold, a tree is planted

Through our partnership with One Tree Planted, we’re helping our planet one tree at a time. With every product sold, another tree is planted, so you know you’re doing your part for our planet.
